VANCOUVER DESIGN WEEK EVENT GUIDE
This year will be the 4th edition of VDW where design and all the related fields will have the center stage all over the city: Vancouver will be transformed completely to accommodate designers, professionals, and creatives arriving for a truly immersive experience. Last year more than 111 events and programs had taken place during VDW – not counting talks, tastings and complimentary tours – all revolving around the same theme “Impact” and the value and impact of design in our lives.
VDW – THE FESTIVAL
The City’s Multi-Disciplinary Design Festival will start on April 29th until May 5th, organized in various locations scattered all over Vancouver, and it will express all its potential as a collaborative platform – a “call-to-action” – where creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities will have the chance to shine in an inclusive and accepting space. The event aims to connect people – regardless of their specializations – and to create a supportive and innovative environment where everybody can bring his own potential.
VANCOUVER DESIGN FOUNDATION
The Vancouver Design Foundation is a non-profit organization that organizes the VDW every year. It tries to highlight the city’s specific design while focusing on four key areas (social innovation, creativity and culture, the built environment, and public engagement). They invite the festival’s visitors to not only observe design but also to look beyond it, to ask difficult questions regarding our and the design’s future.
