MUNICH DESIGN GUIDE

THE CHARLES HOTEL

Set within the verdant Lenbachgärten quarter and close to the historic Königsplatz, the effortlessly elegant Charles Hotel in Munich is where contemporary style meets traditional Bavarian hospitality.

MUNICH DESIGN GUIDE
During your stay sample fresh, seasonal cuisine in the destination restaurant, Sophia’s, and treat yourself to an innovative cocktail from our garden-themed menu. Indulge yourself in our world class spa, enjoying exclusive products made from botanics grown at our Sicilian resort, and swim a few laps in our luxurious pool, the longest of its kind in Munich.

Flushing Meadows Hotel

The Flushing Meadows Hotel & Bar is for aficionados. A home-away-from-home for cosmopolitan travelers, who appreciate attention to detail, design and personalized service. This space is an intimate alternative for guests that have seen their share of nondescript business hotels. It may not be for everyone – but it may just be the place for you.

WHERE TO EAT IN MUNICH

GARDEN

This is also a Munich Design Guide for the foodies! An inspiring mix of proven classics and contemporary cuisine awaits – a mix that can also be sampled in the form of a business lunch. The winter garden, created by renowned Belgian designer and art dealer Axel Vervoordt, seems like an artist’s atelier thanks to industrial-style touches and boasts an adjoining garden terrace. A fireplace separates the restaurant from the Garden Salon. Acoording to Philip Pfisterer’s visit at Axel Vervoordt, Interior-Designer and art trader, the offer of the restauarant Garden experienced a culinary restructuring: light cuisine with more vegetables and fresh herbs.

ELLA

“Ella” was the pet name Wassily Kandinsky gave to Gabriele (Gabriella) Münter. Many of the letters Kandinsky wrote to his friend, fellow artist, and companion of the years between 1902 and 1914 are tenderly addressed to his “dear little Ella.” ELLA is the only restaurant in Munich to offer a view of Königsplatz square and the surrounding magnificent classicist ensemble.

The wide terrace, which seats up to 120 patrons in the summer, is surely one of the most beautiful spots to catch some sun in the city. Inside, visitors can choose between the bar (20 seats), the lounge (20 seats), and the restaurant (80 seats). ELLA also offers a private dining room for exclusive festivities and corporate events and provides catering for customized events inside the museum (15–400 persons).

WHAT TO SEE IN MUNCHEN

Kunsthalle München

Obviously, this couldn’t be missed on our Munich Design Guide. The Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung is the most important and best known facility of the Hypo Cultural Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1983 by the former Hypotheken- und Wechselbank to mark the occasion of its 150th anniversary. Two years later, on 14 June 1985, the Kunsthalle opened its doors for the general public. HypoVereinsbank’s great commitment to both the Foundation and the Kunsthalle remains unchanged to this day.
